Somewhat hidden on Easter Road and alongside the charming bed and breakfast, Easter Home, Hatch Coffee is secluded, peaceful and wonderfully lush. It is almost a secret, you have to find a gate on a wall almost completely covered in vines, then pull a rope to ring a bell to call someone to let you in. But once inside, you almost instantly feel relaxed.
One thing that is not often discussed when talking about great bars is the seating plan. We must say that Employees Only stands out in this regard. Upfront there’s an exciting and entertaining cocktail bar where people who have come to party do kind of cram around. But that’s a good thing people are having fun and engaging with strangers.
Why does Wildflour have a latte worth 290.00 pesos? The Vanilla Almond Latte is prepared with “homemade almond milk”. This is music to the ears of anyone who is lactose sensitive & caffeine-dependent. Our server explained that their almond milk is made in house and following the conventional process by soaking roasted almonds overnight with a bit of salt, processed through a high powered blender, and then the liquid is strained to separate it from the almond pulp.
Seeing the take out cup from Coco Espresso around Central shows how much people in this area love their store. Serving a very relatable blend of espresso which stretches out into a chocolate flavor when served as a latte, it’s a fully developed roast which makes for a full-bodied mouthfeel too. And the most important part? They serve a consistently good cup.
The Den has a special beverage, “The Berg’s,” which is named after the old department store that occupied their current space in the ’30s. The beverage is a mix of espresso, coconut milk blend, and muscovado syrup. It’s served hot, but we recommend getting the chilled “iced berg” variant for a more refreshing coconut flavor.
