Skateboards, cocktails, and live rock music. Pretty Poison in Bali’s Canggu area is a backyard inspired bar driven by a sprawling street community. You’ll find Pretty Poison by its black and white vintage cinema- style marquee in a cul-de-sac. Up front is a merch shop where you’ll find bucket hats, shirts, jackets, and even Pretty Poison rings. Then at the back of the shop, there’s a door that leads you to the actual bar. Upon entering, lively music welcomes you and a skate pool serves as the centerpiece. Cups in hand, people either seated on bleachers, metal drum chairs, or even on the floor nurse beer bootles as the alternative rock plays to enjoy under the open sky.
There is a lot going on but the overall vibe actually aligns with what can probably be described their street cult. Somehow it’s still possible to enjoy both the skateboarders’ exhibition and the live band at the same time. It seems like this skate pool would be intimidating, but it seems to be a safe space for athletes, skate enthusiasts and eager spectators alike to showcase their tricks and revel in the sport with a supportive atmosphere.
