It’s always a joy watching passionate baristas use competitions, whether local or international, as opportunities to share stories about their coffee journey. Aside from showcasing their skills as baristas, competitions in the coffee industry are a way to share discoveries about coffee farming, roasting, and cafe service. They’re also an avenue to experiment with different recipes for specially-curated beverages.
The longest-running annual Barista Competition in the Philippines, The Philippine Grand Barista Cup, held its 13th cup during the Asian Food Expo at the World Trade Center last week. Several baristas from prestigious coffee shops across the country joined to present their different brewing methods and recipes for espresso, latte, and their own signature beverages.
We’re happy to congratulate JC Landicho from Magnum Opus as the new Philippine Grand Barista Cup Champion!
