There’s no menu here in Ounce. Tell the bartender how you’re feeling and he’ll put together a drink for you that’s either an incredibly well made standard, or a modern classic from some bar you’ve never heard of because you’re just not that cool. And these cats at Ounce? They’re cool.
And their kids! At least at the time we visited, the staff seemed going, but very well versed in bartending and the global culture of drinks design. The area of Xinyi Street that Ounce is on is also walking distance from several other of Taiwan’s most excellent bars, so you can even ask them for recommendations of you are doing some sort of bar hopping tour. We actually discovered Ounce because they were shooting across the street to their colleagues behind the bar at another incredible spot: Bar Pun. Yes, they’re all friends, but that doesn’t keep them from jokingly flashing the odd-but-friendly dirty finger over the asphalt.
