While wandering the streets of Taipei, we discovered Boven Cafe, a small and very intriguing cafe where everyone was focused on reading. After some snooping around we learned that it’s by intent: The cafe has a library with hundreds of magazines only accessible through their membership program, the first of its kind in Taipei.
And since they only admit 20 people at a time, you can enjoy your magazine and coffee with a bit of personal space. If you prefer your own book or laptop, you can hang out in their cafe section. It’s a very welcoming space, with minimalist interiors and a lot of work-conducive tables. Their small La Marzocco Linea Mini espresso machine is evidence of Boven’s low key vibe—it’s clearly not meant for heavy traffic, so you’re guaranteed to have a quiet and serene stay, complemented by the beautiful noise of baristas making coffee.
