Picnic vibes this afternoon for the Art In The Park in Makati City. That same vibe paired nicely with some beautifully labeled and delicious craft beers we found on sale to nurse while browsing through the various pop up galleries and installations. Monkey Eagle’s labels also matched the ambiance nicely, with retro designs reminiscent of old rock and roll vinyl album covers.
Old school doesn’t even begin to describe the discreet pleasure that is a midnight visit to Yong He Soy Milk, open 24 hours. The soy milk itself is made right in the front of house and served either chilled or warm. After an evening of Taipei’s finest cocktails, we opted for the comfort of the latter. We also grabbed some radish cake, some fried dough, and a basket of eight Xiao Long Bao made the way they used to do it in the pre-DinTaiFung era. The punchline? All for under 3USD.
Caffeined, a cafe embedded in the functional showroom of Artesania Furniture is a showcase of style and Filipino craftsmanship. Carefully curating each step in the cafe’s experience to align with the brand’s commitment to local Filipino craftsmanship, you’ll find each ceramic cup to be a unique, hand made piece. All espresso coffees served here are also farmed on the same island of Luzon. They deliberately choose to use the lever-operated VBM Replica, bringing a tactile rhythm to the coffee bar experience, and highlighting the craftsmanship of their baristas on cup-to-cup basis.
Spades of texture, flavour, and balance. This breakfast platter at 18 Grams’ Coffee Roastery Lab is an entire tasting wheel on a plate. As a result, you can expect it to pair well with pretty much any coffee that you can order from the menu. Staff here is well trained, so don’t be afraid to let them recommend or choose your beverage for you.
