The other week we got invited by Jameson to preview their upcoming virtual tasting experience. Jameson is available in the Philippines in three variants: Jameson Original, its most popular bottle; Jameson Black Barrel, which is aged in double charred bourbon barrels, revealing the richness and intensity of toasted wood and vanilla; and Jameson 18, aged for 18 years and finished in first-fill bourbon casks, adding a unique complexity and elegance.
The class itself — conducted live from Ireland by Jameson’s Global Brand Ambassador, Tommy Byrne — was pretty fun and educational. Especially if you’re not so familiar with the Irish whiskey process or how it differs from Scotch or American Bourbon. Apparently, the Irish invented the whiskey and they spell it with an “E” while scotch whisky is spelled without the “E.” But Byrne was quick to point out that if you took a walk around Ireland, both spellings are used pretty interchangeably when referring to either one.
Truthfully, the best part of the class came from the entertaining group we were in the Zoom class with, personalities close to the brand, like Nikko Ramos, Boom Gonzalez, and Raizel Go, a group who joked around during and every once in a while asked interesting questions too.
Actually, that’s not truthful at all. That’s a lie. The best part was the drinking of the Whiskey.
But the company and social interaction was a close second! Something that reminded us that it’s still possible to share a drink with a good group of friends via the “e-numan” trend.
Starting in October, Jameson will hold special online tasting classes, with participants receiving their own Jameson Tasting Experience box, just like the one they sent us. In these classes, Jameson brand ambassador Julien Rubio will be your guide through the tasting, allowing you to discover the unique experience that an Irish Triple Distilled Whiskey can bring.
