The Barn Roastery on Schönhauser Allee in Berlin is the perfect stop on a fall morning before a hectic day. This roastery is their second location and since they roast for all their locations here, there are sacks of green coffee beans waiting to be roasted stacked up in the back of the shop. As a specialty coffee shop, The Barn takes it a little further by only selling single origin coffees. This means that you won’t see a blend of any kind in this cafe. They give the utmost respect to the coffees they roast and they’re very much involved with their partners from around the globe to produce the highest quality coffees they can.
During our visit we got to try an Aeropress-brewed single origin Brazilian coffee produced by Celso Minussi. This particular harvest came from a microlot in Sao Paulo. The barista at The Barn was very informative, she explained why she chose the Aeropress instead of other hand brewing methods, she also told us much about the origin and flavor notes of the coffee. She even had notes on how to appreciate and taste the coffee better.
All of their hand brewed coffees come with a card stating the origin, varietal, producer and all the information about your drink. Coincidentally, the flat white we got was their Christmas special at that time and was also of Brazillan origin from the Cachoerinha valley.
