Taipei’s Mimique is a cocktail bar inspired by fairy tales, specifically the mystery and romance that comes with them.
The majority of their customers seem to be groups of women out together, probably because of their fantasy-inspired themes. The interior is also centered on creating an experience of wonder and enchantment, with an extravagant chandelier as their centerpiece, a high ceiling, tea sets, melted wax candles all over the place, and a mirror on the wall (to find out who’s the greatest of them all, obviously). It’s basically the perfect setting for your next princess-themed Disney movie remake. And the drinks themselves have a heavy emphasis on visuals, which are very straightforward with a focus on presentation and experience, some of which are aptly named after fairytale movies like Aladdin and The Little Mermaid. Many of these cocktails are worth going in for a deep dive, so be on the lookout for more details over the next couple of months.
One drink that sums up what Mimique is all about is called Beauty And The Beast, which features tequila and Rosé (not to be mistaken with tequila rose), red wine, garnished with roselle; and is finally infused with smoke under a glass dome casing. It’s a reference to the enchanted rose from the “Beauty And The Beast” film. After all this, it’s served on a golden platter with roses beside the drink. The Caviar Tonic deserves mention as well. It’ a gin and tonic with Creme de Cassis, raspberry, and sparkling wine, which produces a very spirit-forward taste. Everything here appeals to the little girl inside every woman (or man) who wants to be a princess. The dark, candle lit space and its big chandelier make you feel like royalty enjoying downtime inside your own castle. They also have an incredibly friendly and helpful staff to serve your every need.
