Embedded among cart vendors in Hong Kong Central’s “alley-alley” passageways is this spot that’s so difficult to find that we actually gave up trying the first time we attempted to visit. Not only is GPS very close to unusable among Central’s tightly spaced skyscrapers, but 001’s door is itself about 10-15 feet behind the walkways and vendor carts that block it from view.
Find that doorbell.

a grimy alleyway, it’s the touch of elegance. It’s a clue as to what’s behind the doors and down the steps. Try at you may, you won’t be able to open the door. There’s no knob and it opens outwards, as it should for safety reasons. When someone let’s you in, you step into an authentic, true-to-tradition, speakeasy experience. This is 001. If you have high expectations, you will not be disappointed.
Ring that doorbell.
